Whats up Auric Crew!

We wanted to reach out to our swim and surf community today and share a little bit about what Auric Surf is, where it came from and how we got to where we are now.

Auric was born in Southern Nicaragua in San Juan Del Sur and created by Charlie and Kas, who met 6 years ago and instantly vibed with each others design taste and overall beachy style.

When we first met San Juan Del Sur was a sleepy surf town and was just starting to experience some growth from surf tourism. We had a passion for surf design from the beginning and wanted to develop a locally rooted surf brand that was heavily influenced by the Nicaraguan culture.

That is when we decided to roll up the stakes and take a risk by planting our roots with the surf community in Nicaragua. Our first move was to secure a shop location on a main street in San Juan Del Sur. We didn't have a ton of capital to start with so we decided we would share a space with a taxi stand. (However as you can see, we quickly began to need more room)

We started just making men's tank tops and t-shirts, customizing these tees into womens dresses, bandeaus and a few other items. All of our clothes were either made by hand in our backyards or we had local artisans make small batch items of clothing in their houses. I guess this is how you start a clothing company in the tropics, one t-shirt at a time.

As Auric Surf got bigger we knew it was time to expand. Eventually the taxi stand moved out of the tiny little closet store we had, so we got another wall to display more designs. Then, we expanded into a bigger unit next door and made a gateway between the 2 spaces. Once we had our own shop space the sky was the limit and we started designing more and more styles of clothing. We expanded our production and started looking for local family run factories to take on more orders. We then expanded our lines into making bikinis, swimsuits, kids wear, hats, bags, accessories, lycra dresses, kimonos, leather bags and jewellery. All locally made and supporting our local community.

Designing Auric is still as fun today as when we started. Now, we have a large store front in San Juan Dell Sur on the main high street with our coffee & shot bar, we work with local providers in Nicaragua to make all of our product ethically with as little impact on the environment as possible, and we are available online with worldwide shipping. What a journey it has been going from sharing a storefront with a taxi stand to having a full online store.
